Chic Essentials // The Camel Coat
When I headed to New York for Fashion Week I knew that one of the most important items I would be packing is a coat. Not only was it 2° outside but it would also be my first impression at every event I attended that week. I had limited packing room so I promised myself that I would only bring 1-2 coats max so they needed to be versatile, warm and not too bulky!
The first was my leather jacket which is pretty much a no brainer, but the second coat was a toss up. That is when I remembered a camel coat I had discovered last year when I was shopping at a thrift store. Camel wasn’t really my go to color at the time but I had recently read The One Hundred by Nina Garcia and she called camel not only luxurious but said it was the ‘ultimate uptown coat that women will wear to give their jeans an upscale air.’ So I snapped it up and couldn’t be happier about the decision!
From denim on denim to black and white and pretty much everything in-between this coat had me covered! Not only is it incredibly warm, but the length is perfect for a day around town and dressy enough that I was able to wear it to fashion shows and after parties. When finding a camel coat of your own make sure not to skip on the quality, part of what makes this coat so luxurious is the color of the fibers themselves. I was lucky enough to find a 100% lambswool coat with fox fur trim but there are chic options at every price range. Shop the look here and find a camel coat of your own!
