When putting a New Year’s Eve outfit together there is one essential element to keep in mind – a little bit of sparkle. Usually I opt for sequins but when I saw this below the knee-curve hugging metallic knit dress from Forever 21 I couldn’t say no! It is the perfect length to dance the night away without worrying about any untimely Britney-esq moments, is made of a heavier knit to keep warm (because lets face it–its January people), and still manages to catch the eye because of the metallic-laden material…oh and did I mention it is only $25? Who said NYE had to break the bank?

For those of you looking to stay warm this season try topping your favorite festive frock with a leather jacket — it ads the perfect bit of edge to pretty much any look. Tights are another one of my keep-warm tricks for a night on the town because lets face it, I don’t care how ‘cute’ you look without your jacket, shivering all night and catching a cold are no way to start a new year.
