There is only one thing more legendary than the Neiman Marcus popover…and that is the Fall Trend presentation by Style Advisor, Alex Yanez.

From luxe layers of pearls and velvet, to patchwork and embroidery emblazoned military jackets – more is more this Fall. Now if you happen to be a creature of  minimalism, don’t hang your head in despair just yet. The cool thing about ornate detailing, and uber rich textures, is that a little bit goes a long way so if you splurge on one statement piece, chances are  – that is all you will need.

Personally, I am a total bag girl so I was in heaven when it came to the velvet and embroidery adorned YSL crossbody – it can literally hold its own with everything from distressed mom jeans + white T,  to a black-tie fête. Velvet is a huge trend this coming season, so if you happen to see items in this particular texture that speak to you, don’t be shy – let your inner Victorian vixen run wild.

Another fab style note to take from Yanez’s presentation, is the state of the skirt. I always love seeing which direction hems are headed because it gives me an indication about how many squats/lunges I’ll be doing that season. Last year, it was tunic lengths in short fitted shapes – but this year, (much to my delight) its all about skirts that move! I haven’t been a big maxi girl before so this will be a fun new area to explore this season – and I am totally open to suggestions!

Other fun trends making a statement this Fall include mixed shades of red, a myriad of fall florals in everything from rich gem hues to a more subdued pastel based palette, and the return of one of my personal faves – bold gold and metallics. So get out your your finest disco ball emblazoned dress, and your most ornate dancing shoes – this Fall’s trends are reason to celebrate!
