The ‘No White After Labor Day’ rule has always baffled me. Why is it that a society so hell-bent on freedom of expression and celebrating its achievements, can be so quick to succumb to something as silly as a fashion faux-pas?

Why white? I like white! I’m finally grown-up enough to wear white without spilling (that often). Where did this rule even come from? Did the Mean Girls of yesteryear make the call? Well good news…the Fashion Gods at Vogue, and GQ (not to mention countless designers and anyone with a good head on their shoulders) have deemed this concept antiquated so you can take the buttoned up rule book of yesteryear and throw it out the window!

That being said, taking your white wardrobe and making it transition from summer into Fall can be a bit tricky! So here are a few fun tips on how to wear white after Labor Day, in hopes to help you let your own white shine this Fall!

Monochromatic
Go big or go home as they say…head to toe white is not for the faint of heart, but it is one of my favorite looks! I don’t know about you but two of my favorite pieces from this summer are a crocheted white crop top and a pair of white ripped jeans. I hate always having to buy new clothes so I try to find pieces that will work for more than one season. Try pairing your crop top with a white pencil skirt (extra style points for leather). On a more low-key note take ripped white jeans into the fall with a classic white T…both of these looks are great for day turned night out on the town. Finish each one off with stark black accessories to be perfectly on trend for the Fall.

Winter White
No one does winter white better than Ralph Lauren, cozy cashmere and supple suede piled on in loose layers dominated the runway. This look is great for the colder months but also looks fabulous next to tan skin in my opinion. Try pairing winter whites with stark whites in multiple fabrications from silk to leather and everything in-between. Pair it with naturally bronzed skin and gold accessories for more of Indian Summer vibe.

The White Jean
A white jean preferably in a straight leg is the perfect unexpected anchor for a weekend away from the cold. For the most aesthetic look, you should make sure your clothing is immaculately ironed. Check out these Steam Irons if you are yet to realize their importance! Anyway, Less expected than blue denim duds, white dresses up or down nicely and pairs well with gray, navy, and accents of black to mention a few. Try throwing a bandana around your neck in a fun print for fun.
