Inside My Suitcase: What to Pack for India and the Andaman Islands
Hi Everyone!
I’m back from India safe and sound and can’t wait to share all about my adventure. I’m kicking things off with what to pack for a trip to India, more specifically, West Bengal and the Andaman Islands.
The first half of my trip was a humanitarian expedition where I wore traditional Indian garb. I spent the second leg of my journey beachside in Andaman. The beaches we visited are some of the most beautiful and remote places I have ever been. Radhagnagar and Elephant beach in particular are utterly breathtaking.
The weather in this region was hot and humid so I wore breezy sundresses and jumpsuits over my swimsuits which I pretty much never took off. My absolute favorite dress for traveling is the Rhiannon dress by Lovestitch, it’s so easy to throw on, and looks great from day to night.
My other go-to was a jumpsuit I scored on Amazon Fashion for only $25! It literally took me across the globe from Singapore to the Islands and back. I love that it has pockets and feels uber comfy. I paired it with a double buckle belt to give it more shape.
Other items not to leave home without are a good pair of sunnies, and a uber comfy pair of sandals. I did A LOT of walking this trip and so it is important that you wear shoes that you know you can wear for extended periods of time.
Southern India is extremely close to the equator so sunscreen is a MUST. I love using COOLA because their line is reef friendly. My go-to’s are the 50 SPF face lotion and their classic sport moisturizing sunscreen also SPF 50 in Mango. Another beauty must is the Metropolitan Skin Guard line from Alba1913, it basically helps to protect your skin from pollution which is a huge problem in West Bengal. Last but not least…BUG SPRAY! Mosquitos are no joke in India and so making sure you pack bug spray with Deet is super important.
Stay tuned for more about my journey, I’m working on the photojournal over the next week and can’t wait to share it with you!
xx,
Jess
