Active wear as day wear is clearly having a moment. From Alexander Wang’s collab with H&M to Tory Burch’s fitbit, the fashionable are flocking to fitness. According to Fashionista.com activewear is that fastest-growing segment of the market. Sports and fitness have always been a passion of mine so I couldn’t be happier, more options and fashionable ones at that! For those who are die-hard football/sports fans, they mix their activewear with their favorite team’s merchandise like afl t shirts, or nfl hats, etc. there is so much to choose from to help support their favorite team whilst also looking good!
I have found the key to rocking a sporty look is to not go too overboard. Unless you are actually about step on the field, running around town dressed in head to toe sports garb will make you look like you are missing your game somewhere. You also don’t have to be Sporty Spice to rock active wear! If you’ve been unsure how to style your custom sports jackets, here are some helpful hints from my rulebook to nail that sporty chic look:
Rule #1: Try adding pieces to your wardrobe that have a sporty feel but are still wearable like a track jacket or a hat.
Rule #2: Personalize your look by selecting items from a school you went to or sports team you root for! You may want to check out websites such as https://stringking.com/apparel/shirts/ for a bigger range of what you want.
Rule #3: Fit is key. If you are drowning in oversized sports gear it will make you look like you slept at your boyfriends house and forgot a change of clothes. Not quite the ‘boyfriend’ look that I would go for.
While you will still not catch me running around town in yoga pants and a sports bra, you will see me infusing my daytime look with a sprinkling of sporty pieces. One of my all time faves is an old school Adidas jacket I have literally had since high school. Another one of my go-to sporty pieces is a baseball cap or beanie which is perfect for the transition from Fall to Winter, even here in San Diego where it’s still pretty warm.
What sporty pieces will you be suiting up in this season?
