Zara-Skirt-Embellished

NYFW presents some interesting style challenges in the fall. Once you have navigated through the humidity from the subway, and dodged passed dozens of photographers shooting street style photos, you can then expect to face anything from unbearably cold  A/C in the tents, to unbelievably hot back stages where dozens of blow dryers and steamers are in full throttle.

One of the best ways I have found to navigate a swing in temperature is to layer. I found this cardigan at Clothes Minded Boutique in Arizona and absolutely love how simple it is, but the fabric is light weight enough that  when it catches a breeze it instantly springs to life making subtle statement (plus it is sleeveless so it adds some insulation without going overboard). I found this embellished skirt at Zara and couldn’t wait to wear it in NYC. White is such a chic color to me and looks great with just about anything.

Finding statement makers in neutral colors and classic shapes can be a great way to go because they will have more staying power than a color or print of the moment. While I am all about wearing what you love, personally I tend to get bored with items that are one dimensional. This white skirt is perfect for the temperature right now, but will look just as good paired with a chunky sweater and tights in the dead of winter.

I hope you all have an amazing start to your week, I have a few days left working shows and am hoping to sneak away at some point just long enough to make it to Ladurée for some macaroons.

Stay Stylish,
XOJ
