Alexander-Wang-HM
T-Minus 22 hours and counting. I know some people shun designer collaborations saying that they cheapen brands but let’s be honest, designer brands are expensive and its better for a designer to capitalize on creating a more affordable capsule collection than letting other fast fashion brands do it for them. Next on the long list is the highly anticipated Alexander Wang X H&M capsule collection which drops tomorrow. Wang has been a personal favorite of mine since winning the CFDA Awards in 2008 so needless to say I am chomping at the bit to take full advantage of the collection.

If you haven’t noticed sport tech is beyond major this season and Wang is taking things to a whole new level. The capsule collection includes everything from boxing gloves to body-con dresses in neoprene like material. The collection drops at 10am EST online and the die-hard fans are expected to start littering storefronts nationwide before sunrise.

In case you haven’t shopped a collab before, you need to prep yourself. This is no place for armatures, sharpen your elbows and check out these tips for stepping into the ring.

Shop the collection ahead of time: Scope out what you want so you don’t end up frantically adding items to your cart just so you can say you got something. You can view the collection here.

Buy What You Would Actually Wear: Don’t buy it just to buy it. Get pieces you can actually see yourself wearing. These pieces are still upwards of $75-100 so no need to waste money on items that will just hang in your closet. For styling suggestions check out this awesome review from Huffington Post.

Location, Location, Location: Before you zoom off to the nearest H&M, make sure they actually have the collection. Every store does not carry capsule collections so make sure to find one that does. If the H&M near you isn’t participating, create a log-in for H&M ahead of time and get ready to shop the site at least 20-30 minutes before the collection hits.
