Summer used to bug me – yes, you read that right.

While I adore patio brunches, and sunset BBQs,  I am an even bigger fan of Fall fashion, endless layers and sumptuous textures. The thought of my wardrobe being reduced down to cutoffs and LWD’s all season long made me cringe, and while I love both of those options, I was determined to seek alternatives beyond the basic.

First, I decided to take stock of what I already had hanging in my closet. Awhile ago, I scored this Preston Fox Long Sleeveless trench for $20 and I absolutely love it! It is literally a season-less piece because you can layer it over dresses or tops that are strapless/sleeveless/long-sleeved – well, you get my point, it goes with pretty much everything. The color and length are totally on point and perfect for throwing on over shorts and dresses that are questionable in length, and can subdue a bright pop of color in no time.

Recently I picked up this  button front skirt from TOPSHOP, and it has quickly become another favorite. These skirts have a great shape, and are really versatile. You can tuck a statement T into, tie up a button front top, or throw a denim jacket over it for a double dose of denim  just to name a few ideas off the top. Another Fall essential I love, are turtlenecks -so a sleeveless option is the perfect alternative in the summer (which is what I am wearing here).

Delicate layers of jewelry are another great way to add some additional texture and style to a summer look. I love my pieces from the Get Lost collaboration with MINT by Noel. They have proven to be super neutral and go with everything! I love mixing gold and silver so its been fun to have a signature go-to style but they have so many fun options to choose from and their new collection is R.A.D! { Get 20% off with the code CHIC20 sitewide! xx }

When I wear a layered look, most of the time I like to add some height so I don’t feel frumpy. This season one of my fave style came back on the scene – block heels are AH-mazing because they offer height without being uncomfortable, and they come in a variety of sandals and ankle booties which are two of my fave styles! I found these American Eagle sandals at Payless which I fell in love with because it combines two of my fave things – block heels and a huaraches!

Have a fab start to your week – and stay tuned for a new Summer Nights playlist to help you make it through your evening sweat sessions.
