While I absolutely love shopping, I have to admit I get just as much of a thrill when I figure out a new way to wear something in my wardrobe! I am a vey big proponent of buying classic pieces that you will not only love forever, but continue to find new ways to style again and again. One of the most important suggestions I make to friends and clients is to purchase items that will enhance their wardrobes not cause for a need to buy even more items that will match.

I picked this black and floral number up for my trip to Mexico but have found that because of the colors within the floral pattern, it plays well with Cobalt, Citron, and you guessed it Orange! As I was headed out the door for my shoot it was a bit chilly so I went to grab something to go over it and remembered that I had this sweater hanging in my closet.

When you find colors that work for you, don’t shy away from them just because they aren’t this seasons latest trend. If the color looks good on you and you love it, wear it! Orange is one of those colors for me that I gravitate towards. It looks just as amazing when paired with the crisp whites of the season,  as it does denim and and I found it surprisingly looks good with black (in some cases) as well.

Always remember to shop your closet before you go buy more pieces because I have found it is human nature to gravitate towards the familiar. While it is nice to have a variety of options when it is something you love (for me its denim long sleeves) you may be surprised that you have items in your closet that have been forgotten, and are actually way cooler than the trendy piece you are lusting after at the store.

Stay Stylish,

XOJ
