Crop-Top-Look-1

I have always had a love/hate relationship with crop tops…a.k.a. I love them on other people, and hate them on me!  I would always see SJP a la Carrie Bradshaw scampering around bare-midriff and all, and I envied her joie de vivre! Part of it was my comfort level in showing some skin, and part of it was not really knowing where to really start with the look. Loose baggy crop tops didn’t seem like a great idea considering I’m short waisted, and the idea of tight crop tops scared me.

It wasn’t until I was in the dressing room at Forever 21 trying on random trends I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on, that I tried this crochet crop top on and it hit me…why not pair it with a high waisted fitted skirt?! It would only show a sliver of skin, but it would keep a lean profile so I didn’t feel like a circus tent. Brilliant!

I found this fitted neoprene Topshop skirt at Nordstrom. I love cobalt blue, and the neoprene fabric is not only comfortable, but keeps its shape when I have to throw it in a suitcase. The combination is a lot of fun and I would feel just as comfortable wearing it to Sunday brunch, as I would a night on the town. To keep you abs in crop-top condition, try my favorite ab-routine from Art of Eight training, I have noticed a huge difference in the way my waist looks!
