Chic Outfits: Black Pleated Skirt + Knitted Crop Top
Black on black is one of my favorite outfit combinations of all time – if ya hadn’t noticed! 🙂
That being said, it can be somewhat tricky to come up with creative ways to mix and match pieces so that you don’t look like you are a stage hand at the local theater.
One of my favorite ways to create depth to a black on black look, is to mix up the fabrications I wear. Two of the latest pieces I scored while shopping on Luv.It are this black high-waisted metallic pleated midi skirt and knit crop top from Genuine People. Seriously, I’m obsessed with this combo because it transitions from day to night seamlessly and is cold-weather friendly simply by adding a leather jacket and some tights if the temperature calls for it.
Another way fresh way to switch up a black on black look, is to add a pop of color, or in my case a pop of neutral. There is nothing I love more than an all-black outfit with a crisp pair of white sneakers to finish the look off. I have been living in these Jack Purcell Converse since last summer and seriously love them. You can rock them with or without laces and the are super comfy.
One of my other favorite accessories that I have been living is is this mirrored pair of Quay sunnies – their brand is one of my faves because all of the sunglasses are under $100 bucks so while it is still a mini-splurge, it won’t make your cry to hard if you decide to go surfing with them on ( true story – RIP Ray-Bans, hopefully Ariel added them to her trove of treasures under the sea).
