Chic Essentials // The T Shirt Dress
I have to admit that September is my favorite month because it marks the transition from summer staples, into layers of luxe fabrics, hot lattes and cozy nights spent by the fire…or bonfire in my case since San Diego knows no seasons! Speaking of, if you are like me and crave fall fashion…but live in monotone climates never fear…you can still get in on the action!
Given that it is sunny and 72 degrees outside right now, the only chill in the air is coming from my air conditioning…but you know what they say, fake it until you make it! Although, I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful for the cool air that is blowing through the system. It actually feels like heaven (and it makes trying on clothes from my wardrobe much easier to handle). I just hope my friend was able to get in touch with somewhere like https://castlehomecomfort.com/ to help her with her HVAC system, as the last time I spoke to her she said it wasn’t working. And this is the last thing she needs when the weather is like this. I’ve heard good things about that company from other friends so hopefully, it will be sorted soon.
So in that case for us sun worshippers that means infusing elements of Fall into our wardrobes as opposed to wearing a fur parka and doing a snow dance. The changes are subtle, but they make a big difference!
For example, a T-Shirt dress is a great investment because it gives a nod to the Tunic lengths that are going to be big this season, not to mention that it is extremely wearable regardless of your climate. Much better than buying a bunch a beautiful winter-ready pieces that will never see the light of day. A T-shirt dress can also be worn with leggings or tights lending more of a Fall vibe, or bare legged if warmer weather insists.
I found this little olive number at Stroll Boutique in San Diego, the asymmetrical cut is super flattering, and a shift in color palette is a great way to pay homage to the Fall without breaking a sweat. T-Shirt dresses are also great because like a T-Shirt, you can dress them up a bit with OTK boots, or kick around casually in ankle booties or sandals. Also, similar to their cousin…the T shirt…they are pretty much a blank canvas so you can really get creative with your accessories!
What is your favorite way to style a T-Shirt dress?
