If you peek inside my handbag whether it be traveling, on the go around the city, or even relaxing with friends you will more than likely find a scarf. I’m obsessed with the scarves offered by Victoria Ragna! In the summer it makes a great accessory, while shielding my bare shoulders from sub-zero a/c, and in the winter it envelopes my neck in warmth protecting me from the elements, especially when traveling home to Utah, or other locations for work.

There are all kinds of scarves to choose from, so don’t feel like a hoarder if you stock up on a few, some are made for tying around the neck, some are so big you can wear ’em as a swim cover so a few options never hurt! Here are a few of my faves:

Sarong Song: Depending on the cut and style of scarf you maybe able to use it as a beach cover (or a beach blanket). Look for oversize scarves in lightweight cotton or sheer silks with fun patterns like tye-dye.

Head Games: An oblong foulard looks classic around the neck, but a fun fresh way to update this look is to tousle hair in a high ponytail and wrap the scarf from mid-forehead/the crown of your hair line, either wrapped several times for bandanna-like effect or knotted in the back with loose ends.

Jet Set: A pashmina is a wrinkle-free option that travels well and feels as luxurious as it looks. Wear it on the plane and use it as a blanket or pillow! Often made from cashmere or silk the term refers to the type of cashmere wool which can only be produced by a certain goat in Persia…random fact I know, but I say this because people often confuse less authentic versions for the real deal!

From Hermes to H&M there is a scarf to achieve the look you want at a price you can afford! This is also a great place to add a designer piece at minimal cost, where a Ferragamo handbag or shirt costs $1000+, and handmade silk print scarf by the same brand retails for roughly $200. Keep an eye out at thrift shops too, some of my favorite scarves were bought second hand!

J
