Fun fact…I love to go camping in my RV. Yes…I am talking about the hike for days, sleep on the ground, off the beaten path/grid/out of cell phone range camping. Some people like to go closely back to basics as they can do and don’t want to bring the kitchen sink and their wardrobe along with them! Although I absolutely love choosing my different outfits when going camping, my second favourite thing to do is build a campfire! After finding the biggest list of camping food ideas online, I love trying new ones each time. Not forgetting toasting marshmallows at the end of the night – I have done this ever since I was little. Growing up in Utah, we had no shortage of breathtaking scenery to choose from be it Moab, Zion, Arches, Goblin Valley, or further north like the Cottonwood Canyons — and that’s just to name a few! My RV is the best thing I ever bought, not to mention the RV Battery that came with it, it’s been a life saver! Buying equipment designed for use in environments such as camping is very important because often you can find yourself in all sorts of scenarios when you are camping. One item you might like to try is a pressurized mini keg, designed to withstand a variety of conditions and also being made of durable materials.

When the summer heat reaches the triple digits I tend to make like an Iron Maiden and run to the hills. While I don’t recommend running to those hills in heels, I also don’t condone looking homeless either. Camping is the perfect place for a glamazon to get some fresh air, let her hair down and embrace her inner hippie.

Here are a few tips on what to wear when you are called to the wild:

Elemental My Dear: When you are feeling out of your element, it can help to bring a bit of your element with you. I have found that I am way more comfortable camping when I wear something I actually like, so I recommend ditching the baggy t-shirts and sweat pants you ‘can get dirty’ and stock up on a few cute pieces that can pull double duty camping, like this green utility jacket from Forever 21.

Layers Away: Less is more never meant more to me than when I was carrying my camping gear up a 4 mile mountain. While I am aiming to help you look put together, I am not granting you permission to go all Jessica Simpson circa Newlyweds and stuff 3 LV suitcases full of clothes you don’t need! Layering is key. Select items that will look good layered together and won’t take up much room such as thin long sleeved t-shirts, zippered hoodies, t-shirts and tanks, shorts, and jeans.

Mini Me: Travel size items such as toothpaste/brush, deodorant and disposable face-wipes are essential when there is no running water nearby, and hate to break it to you but the only things you really need when packing a make-up bag are sunscreen, chapstick (tinted is a great way to keep it girly), bug-spray, and an array of hairclips, hair-ties etc. to deal with unruly hair. Don’t get too fussy here, remember everyone you are camping with is sure to be on somewhat of a level playing field so make do and move on!

Dirty Laundry: One of the most frustrating parts of a camping trip is that when your clothes get dirty, chances are they are probably dirrrty. A simple but very effective way to handle this problem is to pack a laundry bag on your trip. This centralizes all of your dirty clothes into one place and can be relinquished from a tent to the trunk of a car in no time.

Game Time: While you may not be the one planning the camping trip, it never hurts to throw a deck of cards into your bag. When the sun goes down and the fire heats up a game of Kings Cup or Blackjack can really get the party started!
