The Disheveled Girl’s Guide to Minimalism | Part One: The Shirt
Lately I have been in a ‘less is more’ mentality with my entire approach to life, from my wardrobe to my workload I have really been focusing on taking the time to chill out, and enjoy the little things in life.
A while back, I whittled my closet down to less than 100 pieces – and its pretty funny to watch my friends reactions when they see how little is hanging in there! You want to know the funny thing though? It has never been easier to get dressed, and my style has felt more comfortable, and more ‘me’ than ever!
Today I am sharing my first part in a fun series called The Disheveled Girl’s Guide to Minimalism where we explore all of the coveted essentials every minimalist has hanging in her wardrobe. To be honest these are really great pieces for anyone which is why there is such a fascination surrounding these essentials from the brenton stripe to the white button down.
I often go to Banana Republic to stock up on essentials because of the quality, and the cut. Their pieces are classic, fit like a glove, and last forever – so I don’t mind paying a little more. Especially since they have the BEST sales {I’m not kidding like everything is 40% off right now so take a look}
From the plain white T, and button up, to the cable knit sweater, a so-cal classic – these pieces will take you from work to weekend, and the best part? I got all of them for under $250!
The Plain White T
A plain white T is the perfect blank canvas for everything from a casual off-duty denim look, to a more modern take on business attire.
The White Button Down
The classic white button down can be worn so many ways! I love rolling up the sleeves and knotting the front, with a bit of bling – be it a statement necklace or a gold mens watch. Speaking of watches, I recently bought a new one after checking out some reviews on a website like Wristcritic.com/. A watch can make an outfit go from a 2 to a 10, and I wear one everyday!
The Striped Top
The striped top is the epitome of French chic, and can be worn tucked into a pencil skirt, thrown over skinnies or denim cutoffs – just to name a few!
The Turtleneck
A camel turtleneck is such a fabulous way to infuse a new neutral into the mix! I am pretty much a black/white/gray/denim girl so its nice to add some “color” into the mix 🙂
The Cable (Knit) Sweater
Living in California, a cream cable knit sweater is the perfect essential for beachside bonfires and cozy Fall days.
