Polo-Party-Scottsdale-Fashion

Last weekend I hopped on a plane to Phoenix for the 4th Annual Polo Party in Scottsdale. It has grown into quite the spectacle over the last few years including fashion shows and champagne brunch on Sunday. One thing that strikes me as odd about sporting events like this or the Phoenix Open is how little people actually know about the actual sport itself, and how even fewer watch a stitch of the sporting event that they bought tickets for. I don’t know if that is just a Scottsdale thing or what but hey…people have a good time and look phenom so I guess I’ll let it go.

I was at the event to cover social media for a company I work with and knew from passed experiences that the Polo Party is a pretty fashionable affair so I packed accordingly. Phoenix presents an interesting challenge…90+ degree heat and the desire to wear boots. Normally I would just throw some skinny jeans, a crisp white button up and my fave riding boots in a suitcase and call it good but I didn’t want to be a sweaty mess by noon so I had to get creative.

I have never really worn tall boots with a shorter dress before, but when I tried on some stacked black boots I found at Ross (for $24 #boom) with one of my have Free People dresses I was floored…the proportions were right and it actually looked good! That just opened up a whole new world of options for me this fall given I live in San Diego, so I thought I’d share! I finished my look off with my fave black cowboy hat and 3.1 Phillip Lim sunnies (thank god I finally found a way to wear them, they were a post brunch champagne buzz purchase in New York last month).

All in all the weekend was AH-mazing and I am really glad I went. I got to see a good mix of friends and the Phoenix Fashion Week crew, but at the end of the day there is no place like home with my pup. Definitely looking forward to a weekend full of Farmer’s Markets and finishing a book or two from my Fall reading list.
