Chic Essentials // The Sleeveless Shirt Dress

I absolutely love shirt-dresses! They are so easy to just throw on at a moments notice, and can take anywhere from a menswear look a-la-boyfriend’s button-down, to boho-chic (like the option from Lush I am wearing for this post).

Living in Arizona is awesome but definitely produces a challenge when temperatures soar above 110, because the challenge then becomes wearing as little as humanly possible, while still appearing to be clothed. Thankfully, this lil’ number is so lightweight and breezy that you almost forget you are wearing anything at all!

Another reason I love dresses like this is it is as versatile as your imagination will let it be! Tuck it into a pencil skirt, throw it on over a pair of cutoffs and tuck just the front, grab a pair of your fave leggings and throw them on underneath…the options are really endless!

For this shoot it was nice to get out of town and head East to where temperatures were a little cooler, not to mention that the change of scenery was awesome! I threw on one of my fave pairs of ankle boots from Steve Madden to make the trek, I find that ankle boots are a really great option even in the summer and look great just as great with cutoff shorts, as they do when paired with a dress for some added edge.

While sunscreen is a must, I also love donning a chic hat when I am going to be cruising out and about. This helps to avoid getting to many rays on my face (and/or a sunburned scalp). This fedora was only $10 on Hautelook.com which is a site by Nordstrom where items are dramatically reduced in price for only a flash of time!

I have found some really some really killer deals on there, but make sure you look before your lunch break, because by noon your size will probably be gone (not kidding)!
