The 70’s are back in a big way, that being said when an era in fashion repeats itself a girl has got to keep things in perspective. I love me some fringe, just as much as the next girl but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. The key is to look 70’s inspired… not like you just came from filming a remake of Starsky & Hutch.

For example, in this post I started with a fun asymmetrical dress I found at Stroll Boutique as my trend piece. Since it has a lot going on already, I added muted neutrals like denim and camel into the mix to compliment the color scheme. I found this Salvatore Ferragamo crossbody at a local second hand store and it was only $70–but it totally looks like it could be on Ferragamo’s shelf today!

Check out these three tips to make help you make sure your throwback style is stylin’ this Fall:

Tip #1: Be Selective!

Flare jeans, fringe, retro prints, suede…these are just some of the fun options to choose from this season, and while you might feel the urge to wear them all at once…just don’t. Pick one throwback piece as your anchor, and create a look around that using more modern pieces from your wardrobe.

Tip #2: Buy What You Will Wear!

Just because you see a runway look, or a blogger rocking a piece that is ‘so ho right now’ doesn’t mean you need to jettison off to the nearest store and buy it! Make sure that the trend pieces you select play well with the rest of your wardrobe so you have plenty of ways to wear it!

Tip #3: Go Vintage!

While a 70’s remake can be fabulous, there is nothing quite like the original. Hit the vintage shops in your area, you might be surprised at what you find!
