If you look in my closet, you might notice a well worn-in plaid button up circa 1990’s made by Volcom sticking out like a sore thumb.

It is a shirt I fell in love with when I was dating my boyfriend. It was probably from some web shop like Inocencia menswear. And honestly, I couldn’t help but snag it (permission was granted, right Brady?!). I loved the way it looked casually slung over my cutoffs, LBD’s and PJ’s in the mornings when we were enjoying a lazy Sunday – To this day, I have not been able to part with it, like 15 years later.

Menswear isn’t just for the boys anymore ladies, in fact, I have to say that the way women style these pieces are giving the gents a run for their money. Since the button up, my menswear collection has grown exponentially and the word oversized has become one of my favorite words in the English Vocabulary.

When buying oversized pieces, or styling actual menswear pieces, it is important to keep fit and proportions in mind so you don’t get confused for a bag lady (or an Olsen twin). I like to balance the oversized pieces with more feminine and/or slimming pieces that help break up the overall look and show off some curves.

Accessories like sneakers are also a great place to start if you just want to dip your toes in (pun totes intended).

To kick things off (there I go again…hey-it’s Monday) – I am sharing 3 of my favorite pieces to steal from the boys club – these effortlessly cool pieces add just the right amount of urban zest to an otherwise girly ensemble -because when it comes to style – there is no such thing as a glass ceiling.
